My Journey at Acturis: From Physics Grad to Migration Analyst
Zamir
When I first came across Acturis during a normal job search, I had no idea the impact the company would have on my career growth. I’ve now been with Acturis for just over ten months as a Migration Analyst, and looking back, I can clearly see how much I’ve grown.
I have a background in physics, and because of that, I knew I had an interest in programming and data analysis. The technical aspects of the role at Acturis aligned with what I was looking for but what really caught my attention was the emphasis on developing and promoting talent as well as the commitment to constructive feedback.
The idea of joining a company that invested in people was incredibly appealing. I wanted to join a place where I could contribute and grow and Acturis felt like exactly that opportunity.
Adjusting to the Workplace
Before Acturis, I’d worked in a lab environment where office related tasks were part of the work. Transitioning to Acturis was really smooth and everything went well.
The induction process was excellent. It gave me a strong overview of the company, how we work, and what to expect. My mentor was incredibly helpful in getting me set up, guiding me through systems, and answering every question I had. People Operations and others across the team also played a huge role in making me feel supported and prepared. It felt like everyone genuinely wanted me to succeed.
Doing Work That Makes an Impact
One of the most exciting parts of being a Migration Analyst is the level of impact I get to have. When a new broker transitions to Acturis, we take all their data, process it, and upload it into the platform. Every record they see, every piece of data they interact with, the look and feel is all work my team and I do. It’s meaningful knowing that my contribution plays such a central role in their “go‑live” experience.
A standout moment for me was when my manager and I worked together on a tool that analyzes parts of the migration process. We built something that ended up being rolled out into production for the entire Migration team. The idea that people could be using this tool years down the line—maybe even a decade from now—feels amazing. It’s rare to have that kind of long‑term impact early in your career, and I’m proud of it.
A Supportive and Collaborative Team
The work environment at Acturis is genuinely great. There’s so much collaboration within the Migration team—regular meetings, open discussion, problem‑solving together, and plenty of opportunities to give and receive input. It feels like everyone is working toward the same goal.
My manager was always available, always willing to help, and always encouraged questions. I felt like I could “pester” him or any of the mentors and I never feel like I’m bothering anyone. They all wanted to help me learn and grow.
I didn’t walk in with a long list of expectations but I did hope to strengthen my programming skills, especially PLSQL, and learn more about how database migration works. Those expectations have absolutely been met. I’m continuously learning through projects and from the people around me.
How I’d Describe the Acturis Culture
If I had to describe the culture at Acturis in a few words, I’d choose proactive and innovative. People here don’t wait to be told to improve something; they just do it. There’s always a push to be leaders in the industry, to try new things, and to find better ways of working. It creates an environment that’s always evolving.
I’ve been able to contribute to meaningful projects, collaborate with supportive teammates, and grow in ways I didn’t expect when I first applied. Acturis has given me the opportunity not just to work—but to create, learn, and build a foundation for the career I want.
