Building Confidence and Growing with Acturis
Marcel
I’ve been with Acturis for just over three years now—three years and a month, to be exact. I started as a Data Migration Analyst, and it’s been an exciting ride ever since.
How I Found Acturis
Back when I joined, things were a little different. Today, referrals are common, but I was actually headhunted through LinkedIn. I had already heard of Acturis and done some research because, being on the island, there are only so many companies. So when the opportunity came, I was interested right away.
Career Growth Over the Years
My role has evolved a lot since I started. Initially, I focused on migration tasks, but as Acturis grew and became more popular in Canada, I began taking on more responsibilities. We started working with larger clients, which meant more complex requirements—not just on migration but also on the development side. Over time, I shifted from purely migration work to contributing to development projects as well.
I also had the chance to work on UK-based projects early on, which gave me a broader perspective. Today, I’m involved in projects that prepare us for bigger challenges, including potential expansion into the North American market. It’s exciting to be part of that growth.
What Helped Me Grow
Three things stand out:
- Handling more challenging projects
- Talking to more people and learning from them
- Expanding my skills beyond migration into development
Our migration team in Canada has grown too—we’re more than twice the size we were three years ago. That growth gave me opportunities to mentor new joiners, which was rewarding and helped me develop leadership skills.
What I Value Most About Acturis
Definitely the people. I can reach out to anyone—even if they’re not in Canada—and they’re always willing to help. Whether it’s guidance on a process or pointing me to the right person, the support is incredible. That openness makes a huge difference in day-to-day work.
When I Felt the Shift
It wasn’t an overnight change from “new joiner” to “independent contributor.” Acturis has a strong culture of support, so learning happens gradually. For me, the turning point was after delivering my first project as the migration lead—around six months in. That experience gave me confidence that I could handle the entire project lifecycle: contacting clients, managing data, providing reports, and troubleshooting issues after go-live. From that moment, I felt capable of delivering end-to-end solutions.
Advice for Anyone Wanting to Grow Here
Don’t be afraid to speak your mind, and most importantly, ask questions. Our biggest advantage is our people, so use that. Reach out, learn, and share—it makes all the difference.
Final Thoughts
Acturis has given me the chance to grow in ways I didn’t expect when I joined. From migration to development, from learning to mentoring, it’s been a journey of continuous growth supported by an amazing team. If you’re looking for a place where people matter and opportunities are real, Acturis is the place to be.
