Company overview
Founded in 1983, Will Marshall Insurance Brokers Ltd is a long-established independent brokerage with a strong track record in the insurance market.
After operating on TAM since 1989, the business made the decision to modernize its systems, implementing Acturis across the business.
The challenge
With their previous system approaching end-of-life, the team recognized the need for more than a like-for-like replacement.
They were looking for:
- A platform that would support future growth
- A meaningful step change, not incremental improvement
- The ability to reduce reliance on multiple portals
- Greater efficiency across accounting and quoting
- A system that could evolve with the business
The objective was clear: move forward with a platform that could support the next phase of the brokerage’s development.
The decision to move to Acturis
Acturis stood out for its ability to demonstrate what the system could achieve beyond day-to-day functionality. The team were particularly drawn to:
- The removal of reliance on multiple insurer portals
- A more integrated approach to workflows
- The long-term roadmap for development
The promise of reducing operational friction and bringing processes into a single platform was a key factor in the decision.
Implementation & adoption
Implementation was supported closely by the Acturis team, with hands-on training tailored to the brokerage’s needs, particularly in accounting and quoting. As with any major system change, initial reactions within the business were mixed.
However, with continued support and internal engagement, confidence grew.
Today, the team reports being well on the way to full utilization, with continued improvement in processes and understanding.
After 35 years on the same operating system, we had our workflows and controls down to a science. Making such a big change was not an easy decision for us, ten years ago we reviewed options but did not feel that the technology was right. Acturis has a vision for Canadian insurance to not only provide a BMS but make it better for the entire industry.
Many of the CSIO Standard changes are being initiated by Acturis as they strive to give brokers pure and complete data. Although we have an entire industry to move, change is slow until it isn’t Acturis’ vision for insurance in Canada will become a reality. I am confident in my decision as we push to make technology better for all brokers across Canada.

The impact
Since going live on Acturis, Will Marshall Insurance Brokers have experienced:
- Improved collaboration with insurers
- A more efficient support experience
- Enhanced functionality and reporting
- Greater responsiveness to feedback
The business highlighted Acturis’ hands-on approach and willingness to listen to customers as a key differentiator.
While some areas required adjustment, as expected with a significant system transition, the overall trajectory has been positive, with continued improvements as usage deepens.
Looking ahead
The brokerage plans to continue expanding its use of Acturis, with ongoing development and optimization planned throughout the year.
With a focus on long-term sustainability and operational improvement, Acturis provides the framework to support that ambition.
We’ve been incredibly proud to support Will Marshall Insurance Brokers through such a significant transformation. Implementing a new system after 35 years is no small step, and their success is a testament to strong collaboration between our teams.
Canadian brokers deserve technology that moves the industry forward, not just maintains the status quo. Will Marshall’s adoption of Acturis is an important milestone in that evolution. As the insurance industry continues pushing toward better data standards and integrated workflows, partners like WMIB help accelerate that momentum.
The Will Marshall team’s transition to Acturis reflects exactly what we’re building in Canada – a modern, future‑ready platform that enables brokers to grow, adapt, and stay ahead of industry change.
